Galatians 4:13 You know it was because of a bodily ailment that I preached the gospel to you at first,

The Jewish Christians that Paul is dealing with would be what  is referred to as babes in Christ. We as parents know if we feed our babies the wrong food they will become sick, Babies need the life sustaining breast milk that only a mother can give. These babe’s in Christ were being fed junk theology, as a result the body of Christ was ailing.  The theology that was introduced to these young believes bogus and being immature they ate it up. They were in desperate need of spiritual nutrition. Paul like a doctor for the present,  bypassed the more mature christian to attend to the sick.  Or his own infirmity, about either some particular bodily infirmity and disorder, as the headache, with which he is said to be greatly troubled; or the weakness of his bodily presence, the mean outward appearance he made, the contempt of his voice, and the great humility with which he behaved; or rather the many reproaches, afflictions, and persecutions which attended him, when, says he,

I preached the Gospel to you first;  not the law, but the Gospel; “Paul did not bloviate , and tell stories from His past”, He needed to add no frosting to the Gospel, and this he did at his first entrance among them, and was the first that preached it to them, and was the means of their conversion; and therefore, being their spiritual Father, they ought to be as he was, and follow him as they had him for an example. Not only this but Paul was a very well respected Pharisee and was a leader among the Jews, and had many followers. What I like about Paul and that I myself lack, is His “this is my last day I have  to share the Gospel attitude ” Paul never put off to tomorrow what He could do today.  This is a lesson we could all learn, that today is the day of salvation.

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude 1: 24,25)
