Galatians 4:18 If someone is eager to do good things for you, that’s all right; but let them do it all the time, not just when I’m with you.

Good intentions that are honest and upright are good and to be commended, then on the other hand the nasty little neighbor boy will tell your kids its OK to play with matches, just like the grown-ups do.  But they sing a different song if Dad or an adult is around. So what Paul is telling these young converts what ever advise they give you,  would they give the same advice if I was there. Behind Paul back they were telling they young converts they had to keeps parts of the law, that Jesus death and resurrection was not enough, trying to frustrate the Grace of God. They were eager to plant corrupt seed in they fertile minds. It was difficult enough to go from the Old covenant based on mans obedience to the law, this Idea of salvation by works is popular with mankind. As a whole we feel the need to take part and be self-sufficient, in most of our endeavors. Our pride doesn’t want a hand-out. Even those whom God calls, still struggle with this pride issue. This is especially true when it comes to man giving up his falsely held view of his sovereign control of their life. To this day Christians will battle God over who is sovereign. Either God is Sovereign and man is not, Man is sovereign and God is not. There is no room for both to be sovereign.  So all the good that man can do is sin if not done in Faith. Nothing can be done in Faith unless you have been called of God to a relationship within the family of God. The source of their zeal may have been a wish to avoid persecution, perhaps by Jewish nationalist who were not Christians and who saw the Christians movement as a threat to their cause.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.(Psalms 19:14)
