Galatians 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

Paul is taking this illusion from animals biting and devouring one another. it’s a graphic example, yet effective means of making His point. He had probably seen wolf’s bite and devour sheep, it brought to mind the spiritually viciousness that was on display. Therefore He is prompting us to Love our neighbors due to the lack of love in the earlier verse.  The allusion is to beasts of prey falling upon and devouring one another: for wolves or dogs to worry sheep is not strange; but for sheep to distress another sheep  is unnatural. Christian should not  bite at other Christians, and I thank God I am in a Church that does not bite at each other, I only see the love of Christ on display. I have been a Christian for many years and it is sad to say, I have been caught up in back biting, to my shame. I have seen first hand how devastating it can be. I have seen church’s  split, and christians become mortal enemies. And it was alway a disputed truth that caused the division.  The same thing was going on in Paul’s  day, It is like having your kidneys reject your liver, it destroys the body. The body of Christ must live in harmony for us to be the light of the world. If you are at odds with anyone  ask God to give you the grace and humility to make things right.  Let us love one another with unconditional love, and the world will be a better place.

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. (1John 4:9)
