Ephesians 1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace to you; (charis) apart from saving grace, that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness: grace of speech good will, loving-kindness, favour, but in the context I feel we need to look at saving Grace. ” of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and empowers them to the exercise of the Christian virtues”. And it is important to understand before we can experience real peace we must experience the Grace of God. Paul always puts them in the proper order, no grace no peace, know grace, know peace. The grace of God transcends the saving of the soul and reaches into the inner most being and floods our hearts with peace, To a degree we cannot comprehend , a peace that passes all understanding. (Philippians 4:7) What a Godly greeting that Paul is wishing upon the saints at Ephesus, We would be wise to offer the same greeting. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
