Ephesians 1:18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened,…. Only by the Spirit of God, it is then we see the exceeding sinfulness of our sin; the insufficiency of our own righteousness. Man does not nor cannot wake one day say “I think I will have the eyes of my heart enlightened”. Our hearts are deceitful and desperately  wicked, we love the darkness we think it hides our sins.  And to those who have good morals and live in the dusk or twilight of darkness your sin debt will have to be paid also. It is only when the Holy Spirit open the eyes of our hearts can we realize the “Hope” that we are called to.  By which is meant, the effectual calling of the saints; which is not a call to an office, or a call merely by the external ministry of the word; but which is internal,  powerful, and this is the calling of God, of which he is the author; who calls with an irresistible holy calling, to eternal glory, and all this is by Christ Jesus. Man like to think it was His decision to follow Christ, to which once I believed, but praise God He open my eyes to the truth.  And what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints; the saints themselves are the Lord’s part, and the beneficiaries  of his inheritance, in whom he is, and will be abundantly glorified. Therefore Paul says in Romans 8:30; And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. And we receive and share in His Glory when we are conformed to the image of Christ.
