Ephesians 2:5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ–by grace you have been saved–
Again Paul includes Him, even when we were dead in our trespasses; that is spiritually dead void of any life unable to respond to any stimuli. It would be no difference if and evangelist was to go into a graveyard and with his most skilled voice and reasoning, try to get those who had long departed to respond to His message. Sorry Armenians you can study Ephesians from now till the sheep come home, dead is dead it is on life support, the dead cannot respond. Like a flashlight in your junk drawer, when you need it; it is always dead. Now the flashlight has form and you can see it and touch it, but the flashlight can not charge its batteries in and of itself. It needs an external force to bring it to life. That is by plugging it in to charge the batteries or putting new batteries in, but left to its own it is powerless to come to life and shine. So like the flashlight we too are powerless to respond unless an external force intervenes. But God in is mercy, by the Holy Spirit has quickened us and made us alive together with Christ. It is by an external force, that being God, who by His grace we are saved.
