Ephesians 2:14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility

The long standing hostility the Jews held against the Gentiles has been broken down. The Jews through ceremonial cleanness and long standing tradition boost in the fact that they were “chosen” of God. The boasted that Abraham was their Father to whom the promise had been given. They look down on the pagan gentile as no better that dogs. It was said a Jew would walk around a mountain to avoid a be contaminated by a Gentile. This attitude by the Jews just infuriated the gentiles. Who would go out of their way to make a Jew walk around a mountain. But the hostility went back centuries to when Israel was led of God through ungodly territories that were inhabited by descendants of the gentiles. Many wars were fought over land rights and in the name of religion. The Jews had their own temple and designated a point to where gentile were not allowed to go. In the fullness of time  Christ arrival, the Jews were under control of Roman gentiles. Christ was not born in a vacuum,  our ancient cultures influenced and shaped its character. The Roman government stood poised to regulate all activities and to punish its defectors. This just drove a deeper wedge between the Jews and the Gentiles. So what would be impossible for man, is not impossible for God. When the temple curtain was torn from the top down, this tells us a lot. The wall between God and Israel in that the common Jew could not approach God has been done away with. The significance  of the curtain being torn from the top shows this is all of God. This also show the barrier between Jew and gentile has been done away with. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. The Church (The Body of Christ) breaks down all barriers, there are no exclusions. All those who born again, redeemed by the blood of Christ have free access to the throne of God. We are all united by the bond of the Holy Spirit.  Grace and peace to you from God our Father and The Lord Jesus Christ
