Ephesians 2:22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Greg smiling

As the Church (Body of Christ) is  universal, we have the particular indwelling of the Holy Spirit in each individual christian. As each redeemed soul is add to the body of Christ at the moment they are save they are also indwelt with the Holy Spirit. This debunks the false doctrines that say to be saved you need to seek the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit dwells in us He imparts and empowers  our spiritual gifts also.  The body of Christ is made up of both Jews and Gentiles and each with a specific place and function in the Body. We do not pick our gifts nor the location in the body of Christ. The admonition in Corinthians to seek the best gifts is directed at the Church, not the individual believer. Know ye not that you are Gods temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you. (1 Corinthians 3:16)  If anyone destroys God’s temple , God will destroy him. For God’s temple is Holy, and YOU are that temple. (17)  Destroy God’s temple; “By the wisdom of the world, through philosophy, and vain deceit; by bringing in false doctrines, errors, and heresies, and hereby corrupt their minds from the simplicity that is in Christ; and make rents, factions, and divisions among them”. John Gill  We have a sure  foundation and a sovereign God who controls all thing and our peace comes from knowing  this God.

A summary of Chapter two; Our natural condition we are dead  to anything spiritual, and we see the reconciling act of sinful man to Himself, and the means by which our salvation is worked  out..  For by Grace are you saved it is a gift from God, and not of works so that no one can  boast.  We are raised up with Christ and seated in the heavenlies. What an honor and a privilege. The drawing together the Jews and the gentile under  one banner, The Lord Jesus Christ. The wall of hostility between them has been broken down. We start to understand the Church (Body of Christ) better how we are all built up to the body of Christ. And that being in Christ we are seen as holy by His righteousness. and that every individual believer is indwelled  with the Holy Spirit when spiritually quickened and brought to life by  the Holy Spirit. So far in Ephesians we have seen a lot of personal pronouns again putting emphasis on the work of God and no finger prints from man when it comes to our salvation.
