The Twelve days of Christmas ( Day 5)
(Day 5) 12/17/2013 The Twelve Days of Christmas will be a Twelve day continuance journey of Mary and Joseph in the year 2013, for twelve days I will post a paragraph on the life of Mary and Joseph. I will also post a Christmas message with each story. Hope this will be a Blessing to you and your Family. The real Christmas story is lost, in all the secular traditions that have cheapened the real meaning of Christmas. Even in the Church we have drifted towards the world. The twelve days of Christmas will be a truthful look at Christmas, without the candy canes and mistletoe, with the exception of a modern day story of Mary and Joseph set in 2013.
Jesus is the Reason for the Season.
Joseph didn’t hear any news at work about the possible closing, there was a lot of rumors going around. Mary feeling restless went to get the mail, walking back with a handful of mail, thinking to herself I will be glad when my child comes. One letter stood out, I had an official letterhead and was from the family lawyer. The estate was to be closed they would have to travel to Memphis to pay off the taxes for the small home they had inherited. (To be continued)
Luke 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.
And behold you shall conceive in your womb, Though a pure virgin, which never knew a man, that is never had a sexual relationship; and therefore, “a behold”, is prefixed to it, as being what was extraordinary and wonderful; as it is also, in the prophecy of it, in “Isaiah 7:14” (Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.) to which the angel manifestly refers, and is, by Matthew cited, as accomplished hereby. Whether they would ask for one or not; a sign both in heaven and earth, namely, the promised Messiah; who being the Lord from heaven, would take flesh of a virgin on earth. And who as man lived a sinless live yet was tried as a criminal, being buried in the heart of the earth, would be raised from the dead, and ascend up into heaven. And whose birth, though it was to be many years yet, was a sign of present deliverance to Judah from the confederacy of the two kings of Syria and Israel; and of future safety. Since it was not possible that this kingdom should cease to be one until the Messiah was come, who was to spring from Judah, and be of the house of David. Israel’s messiah their long awaited redeemer’s birth still in the future, and so much the longer was their safety. Their self righteousness, and their pride would keep many in Israel, in bondage. This Christmas season don’t let sin keep you in bondage, Jesus died for your sins, and I pray that God would draw you to Jesus, if you do not know Christ, I pray that you would have no peace nor rest, till you rest in Christ. That may seem harsh, but there is no greater gift than the gift of eternal life.
