Merry Christmas

12 days of Christmas

 (Day 12) 12/25/2013  Mary basked in the glow of Her newborn baby boy, at that moment all worries vanished. She was in a continuous state of praise, and Joseph couldn’t take His eye off both of them, time stood still. Last night The manager at the “Do-drop-Inn” put them in the metal storage shed, it sounds crude, but it was heated and most of the summer equipment was in storage. Mary had her Baby (Jesus) The world would never be the same again.

                        Have a Merry, Mary Christmas

Luke 1:26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,

Luke 1:27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary.

Luke 1:28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”

Luke 1:29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be.

Luke 1:30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

Luke 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.

Vs. 29 But she was greatly troubled at the saying; At this time in History women had not been liberated yet, and Jewish custom declared if a woman was found with child outside of marriage, she could be put to death. That’s 1. thing that troubled her. Also the politics of that time was not Jewish friendly (Matthew 2:3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him) Then in verse 16  Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men. So here we have a young lady that is Jewish, with child and not married “I WOULD SAY She” was greatly troubled. Fast forward to today, we live in a hostile political environment, trying it’s best to get Christ out of Christmas. The manger cannot not be displayed on Government property any more, schools can’t sing traditional Christmas songs and the whole holiday has become so secularized we are more worried about getting the right present and neglecting the greatest Gift of all Jesus Christ. The Christmas time is the loneliest time of the year for widows and Fatherless children. We will go into debt to make sure our loved one’s get that special gift and then struggle to pay it off before next Christmas rolls around.  We have blended Families and impossible schedules to keep, It is the most secular Christian holiday, The bible seems to be more concerned with Death and birth, the birthdate of Christ was that important scripture would have recorded it. I don’t want to bum you out there is a way to have a Merry Christmas; we have to have a Mary Christmas.

  1. 1.   No matter what your circumstance is, no matter what your health condition or family issues you are facing you have to; Submit to the will of God (let it be to me according to your word)

Luke 1:37 For nothing will be impossible with God.”

Luke 1:38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

2. We have to have a heart of Praise; Luke 1:45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”

Luke 1:46 And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord,

Luke 1:47  and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, Mary understood the Sovereignty of God, and she knew all things work together for good to those who are call. “Praise is you acknowledging God is working in your life”

3.As Christians we need to search our hearts; Luke 2:19 But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. No matter where you are or your circumstances don’t panic “in all these things, pondering them in your heart. Do you trust God?  Keep your eyes on Jesus and don’t be distracted by the water all around you. Count your blessing and name them one by one.

4. We have to have a sacrificial attitude; Luke 2:21  And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Luke 2:22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

Luke 2:23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

Luke 2:24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons. If we just dwell on our problems we are looking inside, we need to look at others and sacrifice our needs for them. Look what an effect it had:

Luke 2:25  And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

Luke 2:26  And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

Luke 2:27  And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

Luke 2:28  Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

Luke 2:29  Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

Luke 2:30  For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

Luke 2:31  Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

Luke 2:32  A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

1. Submission to the will of God

2. Have a heart of Praise

3. Search your heart

4. Have a sacrificial attitude

This year I hope you will have a Mary, Merry Christmas

And remember Jesus is the reason for the season
